December's Projects

All the projects I made in December were gifts so I couldn't show them on the blog until after Christmas. The first in line is for my daughter. She recently moved to her own apartment and requested red and sage. I found some lovely fabrics and made her four place mats and two pot holders.
For my younger son and his wife, I made three sofa pillows to coordinate with the wall quilts from the last two years and a runner for the top of cabinet in their living room.
Finally for my older son and his wife, I made six place mats from Moda's Ombre fabric and a solid grey. I was inspired by a recipe from Moda Bakeshop, but I wanted five color sections instead of four. I used solid grey instead of white, because they are place mats and there could be spills.
Everyone seemed really happy with their gifts and I had fun making them.

A Wonderful Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas. The kids have all packed up and returned home. I miss them and all the fun. So here's a recap of the last week. Many shoes under the entry table equal a house full of love and joy.
Santa came and two little boys were very happy with their gifts.

He filled all the stockings so full they over flowed and even the dog got a gift bag!
Here are close-ups of all the stockings I have finished. My youngest grandson's stocking is still in progress. I tried but didn't get it finished.

I'll be back tomorrow with the gifts that I made. I hope your holiday was happy and fun.

Last Two Santas!

Today's Santa is a Tic Tac Toe set from Avon that I couldn't resist.
Christmas Day's Santa is my favorite Santa because my Mom made him when the kids were young. Santa is checking his good children list and Mom put the kid's name on it.
I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!

Santa Day Twenty-Two and Twenty-Three

Another busy day yesterday. Family from California arrived. My son, his wife, my oldest grandson, and my daughter flew in. It was a wonderful day visiting and catching up with all the family news. Our whole family will be here by Christmas Eve. My younger son, his wife and my younger grandson will be here by then.
Day Twenty-Two Santa is another Jim Shore Santa. He was given to me by my niece. Yes, she does feed my Santa addiction! Don't you love the little penguin carrying the bag of toys?
Day Twenty-Three Santa is another quilty Santa. I made him years ago when we still lived in Montana. He is still one of my favorite wall hangings to make. Simple and fun!

Santa Day Twenty and Twenty-One

A very busy day again yesterday. I finished up my sewing and today I'm converting the sewing room to a guest room. We are going to have the entire family here this year. I can hardly wait!
Day twenty Santa is another Jim Shore Santa. He is a gift from my niece. She knows I love dogs as well as Santas.
Day twenty-one Santa is the second Santa that I purchased for my collection. I think he has a sweet, whimsical feeling.

Day Eighteen and Nineteen Santas

Sorry I missed yesterday, it was a very busy day. Finished all the shopping and made great progress on the Christmas sewing.
First, for yesterday's Santa, how about another quilt(yes I have a lot of them). I made this about three years ago. It is a Jeri Kelly pattern that I absolutely love. It's fast and fun to make. If you haven't checked out her patterns, you might want to...they're charming!
Second, for today, is a tiny Santa train I purchased from Avon many years ago. The engine and cars are also ornaments, but I think they belong together on a shelf not on the tree.
Here's a close-up of Santa in the engine.

Day Seventeen Santa

This is my yard sale Santa. He looked so forlorn sitting with all the plastic summer junk on the table. I just had to take him home and put with my other Santas and at $1.00 the price was right!

Day Sixteen Santa

Today's Santa is another one in my Christmas Teapot collection. This one is by Debbie Mumm.
I got an email today telling me that I should remind you to vote for my quilt in the Quilting Gallery Christmas Quilt Contest.
My quilt is the Debbie Mumm Santa quilt that I featured here a few days ago. It called "Santa Has Chores Too". I you would like to vote for my quilt or any of the other wonderful entries go here.

Day Fifteen Santa

It snowed here last night and it is still snowing today, so in honor of the snow we will have a white Santa.
I'm working hard on sewing projects for family so I will show you pictures after Christmas. I always tell myself to try and get finished earlier, but it just doesn't seem to happen. Maybe next year...

Santa Day Fourteen and a Free Pattern

Today's Santa is a tiny Santa made by Lenox China Company. He is a gift from my daughter. He is also a trinket box, his gold belt is two pieces and hinged in back. I love the pretty bright colors used.
Now for the free pattern. This a wall hanging made from the two December blocks without the extra borders. I had hoped to get an example made, but that didn't happen, so the pattern is untested. However I have gone over it thoroughly and I'm pretty sure everything is right. The middle block is traditionally pieced and the top and bottom blocks are foundation pieced. All foundations are included in the pattern. Click here for printable instructions. Enjoy!

Day Thirteen Santa

Today's Santa is a TJMaxx the price was right!

He spends the holidays on the shelf in the parlor right next to an exquisite Christmas Tree Teapot that my daughter-in-law gave me. The little angels were made by my Mom and the lovely teapot between them is a gift from my daughter.

Santa Day Twelve and a Finish

These Santas are a creamer and a sugar bowl. They were gifts from my wonderful niece.
Finally a finish! This is an unconventional tree skirt for an unconventional sister. There will be sunflowers on the tree too. The fabric is Mary Engelbreit. The design is mine.

How About Another Quilty Santa

Day Eleven Santa
I've shown this quilt on my blog before, but it's been a while so many of you may not have seen it. The pattern is by Debbie Mumm. It was intended to be a much smaller quilt with raw edge applique.  I prefer finished edges so I enlarged the pattern and machine appliqued it.
 Here are some close-ups.

Were Up to Day Ten!

Today you get three Santas for the price of one, because they are some nesting box Santas I bought over ten years ago. They are heavily beaded and sequined. They look so nice standing together in my curio cabinet and store away so neatly without taking a lot of room.

Time For Another Teapot

Day Nine Santa
...and it's time for another teapot. This a Debbie Mumm Teapot that I bought while we were still living in northwestern Montana. I love Debbie's Santas especially the ones from the late 1990's and early 2000's.

Day Eight Santa
This Santa is a Jim Shore Santa given to me by my niece. He's such a jolly, happy, kind-looking fellow. Just how you would like Santa to be!

More Countdown to Christmas

Sorry I missed yesterday, so today you get two Santas!
Santa Day Six
My Mom made this for me when the kids were young. It is a special treasure since Mom is gone, so it's lovely to pull this out each Christmas and remember how thrilled she was to give each of her children's family one of these.
 Santa Day Seven
A cute Santa on a ribbon candy sled.

Santa Day Five

How about a "quilty" Santa for today!
I designed and made this Santa in 2009 for my husband's TV room.
The fabric is mostly from Mary Engelbreit's "Is Christmas Fun or What?" line for Moda.
Here's the entire quilt and the mantle it hangs above.
Hope you're having a wonderful day and getting all those Christmas projects finished.

Santa's Christmas Countdown

I was reading Bitty Bits & Pieces blog this morning and she is having a Christmas countdown of ornaments on her Christmas Tree. She invited others to share in a Linky list. I thought this sounded like fun but decided to countdown Santas instead of ornaments. I really love Santas and have many of them. None are expensive, they just have to strike my fancy. Some I bought, some are gifts, one I even found at a yard sale for a dollar, and of course there will be a quilty one or two. So here goes!
Day One
A silly Santa from an outlet store in Post Falls, Idaho
 Day Two
Another silly Santa from Avon
 Day Three
A teapot Santa
 Day Four
A cute little Santa with a Gingerbread Tree
I hope you enjoy seeing some of my Santas...there will be more!
