September's Blocks

September always means "Back to School" to me. Although my children always started school in late August, when I was a child school started the day after Labor Day. The first block is a very easy block comprised of four traditionally pieced apples.
The second block is an old fashioned schoolhouse with migrating geese and a pine tree. This block is foundation pieced.
The instructions for both blocks can be found here. The foundations for the second block are also included. If you are a newcomer to my blog all the instructions for the year to date can be found in the tabs at the top of the page. Thanks so much for visiting my blog. I hope your enjoy these blocks!

I Have a New Toy!

These little piles of fabric, with fusible ironed on the wrong side,
became sixteen flowers, sixteen curved stars, sixteen centers, ten stems, and twenty leaves in less than a half a hour.
Thanks to my new toy from my two sons and their families.

Monday's Design Floor

Things are going slowly around here. Summer just seems to be a busy time and a little harder to make it to my sewing room.  Here's a couple of projects that I'm currently working on. First I finished the machine applique on the center of this quilt. I still have more corners and a border to add. Click on the picture to see the stitching detail.
Next, I'm also working on a BOM from a local quilt shop. We are doing blocks from Japan. Here's the blocks I have finished. This is not the final layout.

These are the blocks I have cut out or partially cut out.

Finally this is today's project. There are nine blocks there to be cut out. Do you think I can finish the cutting today?
Be sure to check out "Patchwork Times" for more design floors and walls.
