My Favorite Cross Stitch and Appliqué Projects

First of all I would like to apologize to Madame Samm and all of you who visited earlier expecting to find this post. An unexpected trip and illness resulted in no internet service until now. I tried to post via smart phone but couldn't make it work, but I'm home now, all is well and I'm finally able to post.
I have loved to cross stitch for many years, so when Little Miss Shabby came up with a project combining cross stitch and quilt blocks I started right in. The result is my favorite stitchery yet. I personalized many of the blocks then added my own sashing and border. I surrounded the project with fabric borders and quilted it.
 A closer look!
Another project that I love is a sampler of my own devising. I took bits and pieces from a variety of patterns and combined them.
Again a closer look.

I made a couple of mug rugs for an earlier blog hop of Madame Samm's. These are my first real effort at designing my own cross stitch charts and I'm very happy with the results.
Over the years I've made Christmas stockings for all of my immediate family. Here are three of them. Mine is the needlework themed one.
Now on to the hand applique. I'm by no means an expert but I really enjoy designing and making them. First is a project that I designed and made about eight years ago for a miniatures contest sponsored by the Robert Kaufman fabric company. I won first prize in the competition! It was great fun.
My next project was in memory of my Mom. She loved thirties fabric and Dresden Plates. I love that it reminds me of her every time I look at it.
Finally my latest project is still a work in progress. It started with a block of the month class that I attend. My goal was to design an applique overlay for each block. It was fun and challenging because I didn't know what blocks we would be doing until each month's class. I still need to design and add borders. I want to included applique in them as well.
Finally how about a give away! I have two cross stitch charts. First is a Christmas one.
Next is a lovely chart called "A Day Without Stitching".
If you would like one of these patterns, please leave a comment letting me know which you would like. I must have a way to contact you so please leave your email address unless I can find it on your blog. The contest will close on March 31st. I will contact the winners as well as post them on this blog.
