February Block...Finally!

So sorry to be so late with this post. I will do better next month!
First this block contains a bunch of flying geese so here is a link to my favorite way to make the flying geese blocks and it is the way I have written the instructions to utilize.
There are quite a few variations of this traditional block, mostly the differences are in the way the "geese" are pointed. This is my favorite, but if you would like to vary the direction your geese are flying, please feel free to make the changes you desire.
This is the block.
 The scrappy version.
Your can get instructions for making this block here
Here are the January and February Scrappy blocks together.

Here are the regular January and February blocks.

OK, you may be looking at this and saying, "I thought this was the planned version with fabric purchased for the project, so why are the two backgrounds different"? Well here is what happened, I purchased the fabric before I finished planning the project and didn't buy enough background fabric. When I returned to purchase more, it was gone so I decided to purchase a different fabric and make every other with that fabric. Sometimes your just have to improvise!

Busy Week...

and not much sewing to show. Lots of errands and running around. Two days packed with rotary cutting, but very little sewing. I did, however, mange to finish a tiny apron and chef hat for my youngest grandson, who's almost two.
On another subject, If you follow my blog you may have noticed that I am late with this month's block of the month. Sorry about that! Check back tomorrow I should have the blocks and instructions ready by then.
Happy Friday!

More on Jessica and a Couple of Small Projects

I just thought I'd let you know that today is my daughter Jessica's profile post as part of the Repeat(ed) fabric design contest at the Printed Bolt. If you would like to read a little more about her and see her fabric entries click here. I also thought I would post one of my favorite photos of her. This was taken last summer at my sister's house and there were irresistible kittens.
I haven't able been sew very much this week or last. I was unlucky enough to get Norovirus and it has taken a while to recover. I did get some sewing done for my older grandson. I made him three pairs of easy to wear pants.
I, also, made an apron in Mickey Mouse fabric.
 The young chef at work.
On today's agenda is an apron for my younger grandson and chef hat too! I think I will go with an outer space print for the apron. Photos to follow in the next few days.

An Exciting Annoucement, A Winner, and A Finish.

I'm so thrilled! My lovely daughter is one of the top ten designers in this years Repeat(ed) fabric design contest over at The Printed Bolt. If you would like to read all about it for yourself, here's the link. My daughter is Jessica Majers, the second from the left in the top row. I'm a very proud Mom!
Now for the winner in my Dare to Dresden giveaway.  Stacey Napier, who said "Beautiful project - just lovely!" is the lucky winner. I have emailed her.
Finally, the finish.
I showed this quilt on a previous post while in the process of machine quilting it. I was intending on adding some fancy quilting after all the "in the ditch quilting" was finished. Well I changed my mind and decided I loved the old fashioned simplicity of the quilting as is. This will hang on an empty wall in my sewing room, just as soon as I finish showing it off at my local quilt guild. This quilt is my January UFO project. I have made a goal to try to finish one unfinished project per month this year. So one down, eleven more to go!
