March Block

Today is the March 20th so it's time for another block. This month's block requires a technique called a partial seam. Here are some instructions on how to do this technique.
Now for the blocks. This is the version with purchased fabric for this project.
 This is my scrappy version.
 The instructions are available here.
If you ever have any questions concerning this block or others I have designed please feel free to contact me!
I thought you might like to see the first three block together.

I will be adding sashing, tan on the more organized set and I'm not quite sure yet what I will be using for the scrappy set. What do you think would work?

Designing and Rewards

I love to design blocks and quilts. It's just pure fun for me. I also enjoy writing instructions. As a result I have been able to share some of my designs with you. Two years ago I created a Block of the Month with twenty-five blocks and last year I decided to share them on my blog. I used the thirteen blocks below as headers on a calendar holder.
I made the other twelve blocks into a quilt top.

These blocks are still available(see the header directly under my blog title).
One of the most rewarding results of this is when I find that someone is making and enjoying my designs.  I recently found a quilt on the blog "Sew, Rip, Sew" made from the blocks. Since the maker is Canadian she designed her own block for the July block. Her quilt is lovely. If you would like to see it go here.
She also made another pattern that I shared in October. Here's my version.
I you would like to see her version go here.
If any of you have made any of shared designs and would love to see them and with your permission link them to my blog.

Jessica's Fabric

Today my daughter Jessica's fabric posted for the first challenge on "The Printed Bolt Repeat Challenge". Her fabric is inspired by farm land in China and is called Faraway Farms.
If you would like to see a close up of the fabric, her coordinating colors, and read about her inspirations, go here. It would be lovely if you left her a comment.
Although the decision of what designers continue in the contest are made by a panel of judges, they are also awarding a monthly viewer's choice. To vote for Jessica go here.

Working on a UFO and a Win

OK, first up, I have a confession. As you may have noticed, there have not been very many posts lately. I could tell you I'm busy with something I don't want to show yet(not true) or that I've been under the weather(again not true). The truth is I've been a bit on the lazy side and have hit a run of or really good books at the library so there just hasn't been much of a quilty nature to tell you about.
However, I'm slowly getting back to work and am working on an unfinished project that I started last fall. Here's where I left off.
I have since added more corners and I hope to get the borders added today. By the way, the colors in the second picture are more correct than the picture from last fall.
The last four corners that I added look just a little wonky and that's not the look I'm going for so I hope I can remedy that today too.
Now to the win. I was lucky enough to win a lovely ruler holder from Connie at Freemotion by the River and it's wonderful. So beautifully made! Here's mine put to use.
Connie is giving away another holder now. So stop by her blog and enter here. You won't be sorry if you're lucky enough to win!
