Today is my day on the Dare to Dresden Blog Hop. I love Dresden Plate blocks, so I was excited when I read about this hop. Many thanks to Christine from Quilt Monster in My Closet and Madame Samm from Sew We Quilt for all their hard work putting this blog hop together. It has been a cold, dreary month and so I wanted something that felt like spring. I used fabrics from "Nature's Notebook" by April Cornell, "Summer Breeze II" by Sentimental Studios, and some fabrics from my stash. The design is mine. The quilt is 34 inches square.
Here's a close up of the central block. It is 12 inches square.
I used a ruler called the "Fat Cat's" Ruler by Darlene Zimmerman for E Z Quilting. It makes a circle that is made from twelve wedges and is fun and easy to use. I used blue painter's tape to mark where the ruler runs along the top of the fabric strip.
OK now is confession time. I had planned to make a four block quilt, but I quickly realized I didn't have the time or desire to make four blocks, so I had some leftover wedges. I used some of the extras in the inner border, but I see a wedge quilt in my future! I am thrilled with how the quilt turned out and am happy I changed the design.
Now for the giveaway. How about a pattern for a Dresden Plate quilt of your own. This pattern is by Hearthsewn. It contains instructions for two quilts, a Dresden Hearts Quilt(20" x 20") and a Crossroads Quilt(51" x 59"). Leave one comment(please not more than one) on this post. I must have a way to contact you, if I cannot I will choose someone else. I will choose the winner on Feb. 2, 2013.
Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to see the other Dresden projects today.
