I finally completed my last block for my Blocks of Japan quilt and I think this is my favorite.
This is going to be the center block. I'm going to sash the blocks with the gold fabric in this block. So stay tuned hopefully I'll have a quilt top soon.
I realized I haven't shown you a picture of little Oliver for quite some time. He is 1 1/2 years old now and is finally starting to grow out of some of his more undesirable puppy traits but he still is retaining the puppy fun. He is a little overweight and is on a diet, something he is not liking! He is a very loveable little guy and adds so much to our lives.
It's been a very good but very busy week, especially on the sewing front. I appliqued a block for a quilt that our guild will be donating.
I made some cute pot holders for my wonderful daughter-in-law's birthday.
This is a free pattern from McCall's Quilting by Bea Lee called "It's a Hootie".
I made eight blocks for my blocks of Japan quilt.
I only need to make one more block then I can put it together. I think it's going to be really pretty. I love how the BOM club that I belong to pushes me to try new things and make projects in fabrics I would never consider. They usually turn out beautifully and I have fun and learn a thing or two!
I'm finished with this project and very glad to have it finished. I learned a lot and worked very hard and I'm thrilled with the results. I couldn't have done it with out my sister and niece. They are the ones who really knew how to do this! So without further ado, this
Thanks Nancy and Ruth Ann!!!!!
Now I just have to slip cover my sofa, but that's going to wait a week or two. I need to quilt!
Here are four of the blocks from Japan that I'm working on. I still need to machine applique the flowers. I'm going to use navy thread so they will have an outlined effect. These are my interpretation of the original block.
Right now I'm not quilting instead I'm learning a new skill...I'm learning to reupholster furniture. In the picture you will see a chair frame stripped of it's fabric. It took my niece, my sister, and I five hours to get this far and there are still more staples to be pulled. We still have another chair to get to this point. Wish us luck!!!
